The situation at the Fukushima nuclear power plant just keeps getting worst and worst. As you know, last week there was a vigorous earthquake in northern Japan that damaged a nuclear power plant in Fukushima, Japan. Three of the four reactors are now overheated due to the lack of coolant and the Japanese authorities are trying to cool them down water-bombing the whole thing from the sky with helicopters using water from the sea. Only a few of such maneuvers have been performed so far, but experts say over 100 are needed to have any effect on the increasingly overheated reactors. And folks, let’s be honest, you think 100 flyovers are even physically possible? I don’t think so.
There are only 50 people remaining at the plant trying to work things out, and let me tell you folks, those guys must have the biggest balls I’ve ever seen! And it’s not because of the hazardous amounts of radiation, although the radiation actually does pose an immediate threat to their lives (contrary to popular belief, rolling in nuclear waste does not give you superpowers).
So, to the gentlemen still working at the Fukushima nuclear plant, to all fifty of them, my most humble respects, I wish I was half as brave as you are.
Hit the break to watch a couple of videos explaining the details of the situation.
And here is a video of the Japanese efforts to keep the reactor cool
I have no idea how bad this will be for the people around the globe if the efforts to keep the busted-ass reactors fresh fail, but I don’t think it will be good at all. Regardless of where you are in the planet, I’d buy some potassium iodide if I were you, just in case.
While you watch and get Paranoid, I will be praying for those poor people at the Fukushima power plant and you should do the same (if you believe in any God anyways). Now, if you are more the “Praying doesn’t do shit!” kind of guy, then you might want to consider donating to the Japanese Earthquake Relief Fund, more than ever, they need your support:
