See, this is why people don’t believe in UFOs anymore. Last week I told a friend I saw a UFO in the sky and he told me it most likely was a plane. A PLANE!?! A plane doesn’t fly sideways or mysteriously disappears on a cloudless night! Nevertheless I get called a crackpot. No matter how many drinks I’ve had that day (I only had 2 tequila shots BTW). Geez, at least wait till I’m black-out drunk, talking about magic unicorns flying out of my ass!
So today I stumbled upon this article about a picture taken by the Mars exploration rover of a UFO base on mars and there was a blurry picture of the ‘base’ in the article, which I naturally forwarded to my resident designer/graphics guy. He processed the image and sent me an e-mail back with an animated gif containing his analysis, asking if this was a joke. After watching it I realized, too, why this looked like a prank.
Hit the break to watch a video of the alleged Martian UFO base, followed by our analysis of the image and find out what the ‘mysterious’ UFO base really is.
And here’s the explanation:

Here’s yet another animated gif, this time taken from NASA’s website, where you can see two frames alternating. Notice how the alleged Martian UFO base (in the upper portion of the picture) remains still while the background moves. Note also, that the reflection that Armando pointed out in the picture above move in unison with the shadows casted on the ground.

In conclusion, I am not saying that there are no aliens on Mars, I am saying that if there are any aliens they are probably underground and if you actually stop and think about it, it makes a whole lot more sense than a Martian UFO base over the ground, where it can totally get hit by an asteroid. Remember that Mars does not have the benefits of an atmosphere like Earth and in the event of an asteroid or meteor there is nothing to burn it up and deplete it before it hits the ground.
If I had to point out something weird about the pictures above though, it would be that weird rock on the bottom of the second animated gif. I have never seen a rock like that anywhere before and I’m pretty familiar with desert-like terrains. It looks more like a shrapnel or something.

Just saying…
Visit deathby1000papercuts.com to see the original article while I go search UFO bases in Google Mars. Just to be sure.

Special thanks to Armando from Redcrow Design for helping me crack this one open.

The reflective protector acts like a mirror and reflects the rover parts. YOU HAVE BEEN DEBUNKED
@COLLIN GROBE It’s actually a solar panel, not a protector.

STUPID ASSES ITS PART OF THE ROVER TO PROTECT IT FROM THE SUNS RAYS.
Those who want to believe will always see what they want to see its good to keep an opened mind but not too open that you get fooled or fool yourself and that being said if this was a picture of an alien base then NASA is doing a poor job at hiding the existence of aliens. Like really I pay my taxes and I expect them to keep the secret stuff secret.
@Ignition Yeah, that’s what I always say! Keep an open mind, but not so open that your brains fall out. And let me tell you, mine used to fall out all the time, but you learn to spot the hoaxes with time. As soon as I see something fishy I call any specialist I know. In this case, my designer.
