Paranoid Products: The Alien Detector cell phone strap.

I am not sure if this product is for real or it’s actually a cruel joke mocking the xenophobic people, but let me tell you, if it works it’s one of the best products I have reviewed so far. Unlike the other detector, this one is portable, FAR more portable. Just imagine trying to stuff the other one in your pocket, it would be impossible. Impossible and painful. Mostly painful.

We all know that aliens exist. We just never really figured out how to find them–especially not the ones that don’t look like ET. That’s why a Japanese alien specialist created this alien detector cell phone strap to carry around. Using this thing requires a little bit of extraterrestrial detection training. But here’s the short version of what you have to do:

1. Go to a place known for suspected alien landings. 2. Lightly press the detector button. If there’s a UFO nearby, the gadget will make a “Piko piko” noise. 3. You’ve found your alien! The rest is easy. Have the suspect put his/her/its finger on the button while pushing the metal piece on the reverse side. IF your new friend is really an extraterrestrial, the device will scream: “Hyun! Hyun!” This way you don’t have to do experiments on all your alien-like weird friends. Most importantly, this device has the endorsement of Japan’s number one alienophile, Junichi Yaoi.

There you have it, that’s all I got from the blog where I found this little jewel (copy/paste is my best friend!) As I said I have no idea whether this product is a scam or it really works, but it will set you back 2,116 yen (about 23 US Dollars) plus whatever the shipping costs. So if you understand Japanese you can visit the store:

世界初!?UFO探知ストラップ ユータンレーダー
(According to Google Translate it says: World’s First!? UFO Detector Strap Yutanreda)

The idea itself is innovative but the design kinda sucks. I guess they tried to make it look like a  stylish UFO but it rather looks like a car remote. So if you buy it and try it, do yourself a favor and don’t stand in front of your car while you push the detector button, just in case the car alarm goes off in your face.

I prefer my sixth sense over any alien-detecting gadget, but then again, I’ve been abducted so many times, so it probably doesn’t work at all. Maybe I should give it a try.
